  2020 PHIL STEELE/DRAFTSCOUT All-CAA SECOND TEAM: Sam Kamara, Stony Brook, Sr.,...Kamara returns to Stony Brook after the NCAA granted a waiver for the defensive lineman to return for a fifth and final season. He was named to the preseason All-CAA football team in 2019. He recorded 16 total tackles, three sacks and 4.5 tackles for a loss in five games prior to an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.   Standout linebacker Elias Reynolds is returning home to complete his collegiate football career. Reynolds, a Brooklyn native who appeared in 25 games over two-plus seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, will join the Stony Brook football team for the upcoming season as a graduate transfer. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining. "They had the best to offer: great people, staff, coaches, academics, facilities - and all in my own backyard," Reynolds said. "It doesn't get any better than that. I'm coming home."

The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Reynolds earned a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in administration of justice from Pitt. With the Panthers, Reynolds started games at middle linebacker against Virginia and Penn State last season. In 2018, he recorded a career-high 12 tackles against Duke and had seven tackles in the ACC championship game against Clemson. - Stony Brook Football

  Representatives from 14 NFL franchises descended on Long Island for Stony Brook football's annual Pro Day on Wednesday. Eight Seawolves showcased their talents in the weight room and on the field, while the university was able to show off its new indoor practice facility. "I was just grateful for the opportunity to be able to workout in front of NFL scouts," former Seawolves captain Gavin Heslop said. "I felt prepared and I felt like I had a great day." Heslop joined seven other draft-eligible players in Wednesday's workout.   Nick Courtney kicked a 22-yard field goal as time expired, lifting Stony Brook to a 36-35 upset win over Villanova on Saturday night in which the Seawolves scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Villanova (6-2, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association), ranked No. 5 in the STATS FCS Top 25, has lost two in a row and fallen out of a four-team cluster in second place behind unbeaten James Madison. Stony Brook (5-3, 2-2) snapped a two-game skid.

Trailing 35-20 in the fourth quarter, the Seawolves scored touchdowns on two of their three possessions and held Villanova to a pair of three-and-outs on its last two possessions. After fielding a short punt with 28 seconds left, with 64 yards to cover and trailing by three points, Tyquell Fields quickly brought the Seawolves to the 5 with passes of 19 and 40 yards to Andrew Trent and Nick Anderson, respectively, setting up Courtney's kick for the upset. Fields finished 21-for-37 passing for 320 yards. Anderson had eight catches for 137 yards. Jaaron Hayek caught a 21-yard TD pass from Daniel Smith and threw a 68-yard TD pass to Smith, while DeeWil Barlee had 22 carries for 131 yards and a score for Villanova. - AP College Football

  Tyquell Fields ran 50 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 11 seconds remaining and Stony Brook defeated Rhode Island 31-27 on Saturday night. Field's touchdown capped a wild fourth quarter in which 37 points were scored, Stony Brook (4-1, 1-0 Colonial) blew a 21-7 advantage and the lead changed twice in the final 1:05. Rhode Island's Vito Priore, who had 295 yards passing and three touchdowns, connected with Aaron Parker on a 20-yard touchdown pass to give Rhode Island its first lead of the game, 27-24. After the kickoff, Stony Brook had the ball on its own 25 with a minute remaining.

The Seawolves picked up a couple of first downs but soon faced fourth-and-6 at the 50-yard line. Fields dropped back in the pocket, briefly looked downfield to pass, then took off up the middle. He ran virtually untouched into the end zone. Earlier in the fourth quarter, URI's Ahmere Dorsey returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and Priore's 24-yard pass to Isaiah Coulter drew the Rams (0-4, 0-3) within 24-21 with 1:42 remaining. Stony Brook piled up 535 yards of offense with 336 rushing and Fields passing for 199 yards. Isaiah White carried 20 times for 109 yards and a touchdown.   Isaiah White ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns, Tyquell Fields passed for 282 yards and a score, and Stony Brook defeated Wagner 26-10 on Saturday. The Seawolves (2-1) dominated the first three quarters, taking a 26-3 lead into the final period while holding Wagner (0-3) to 113 total yards and four first downs. Fields' TD pass, a 26-yard connection with Jean Constant, gave Stony Brook a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. White ran for touchdowns of 9 and 7 yards in the third quarter to build the 26-3 lead. Nick Courtney kicked two field goals for the Seawolves.

Stymied through three quarters, Wagner's offense more than doubled its production in the fourth quarter, finishing with 259 total yards. Christian Alexander-Stevens hit Joshua DeCambre with a 4-yard pass for the Seahawks' touchdown. Alexander-Stevens finished 20 of 35 for 242 yards passing.
